For full disclosure I purchased these shoes from Mizuno to wear as a winter running shoe.

Out of the Box
The Rider GTX look great with a dark grey/black upper with blue flecks throughout the shoe to lighten them up with a blue sole.
Initial reaction when I put these shoes on were how sticky the soles of the shoes were. Great for winter running and with the waterproof Gore-tex uppers great for winter and for our Canadian Spring weather too!!!
The shoe is really an all weather shoe but the main reason I choose this shoe was for winter running, trail walking, hiking and running on trails especially with that extra grip feel, making me feel safe underfoot.
They are a neutral shoe with lots of cushioning and Mizuno’s Wave technology for energy return and the Gore-tex help keep my feet warm & dry.
Although Gortex, the uppers have a little more mesh feel in them so they are not as tight or not constrictive as I initially thought they would be and they do seem to offer a bit more room in the toe box.
Conclusion
A terrific all round winter shoe, providing me with the confidence of traction in wintery conditions and keeping my feet snug, warm and dry with the waterproof Gore-tex. My new go to winter shoe.
